One of the more exciting new photography products to be announced at this years Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the Canon Powershot G1 X prosumer higher end digital compact camera. Designed to appeal to photography enthusiasts looking for the highest image quality in a compact, take anywhere type of camera, the Canon G1 X sets itself apart from the competition by featuring a brand new, large 14.3-megapixel high-sensitivity Canon CMOS sensor, which is approximately only 20% smaller in size compared to the sensors found in Canon's APS-C format digital SLR cameras. The benefit of incorporating a larger sensor is that the camera is able to deliver enhanced dynamic range, an ISO range of up to 12800 and improved light gathering ability to help ensure better image quality in difficult low-light conditions.
